MolluDab 5% Topical Treatment

MolluDab contains 5% potassium hydroxide and this is dotted on the Molluscum contagiosum bumps twice daily by parents or the patients themselves. It breaks down the skin cells which encase the virus, to enable the immune system to recognise the virus and respond to it. After around 4-6 days treatment, the immune system mounts an ‘inflammatory reaction’ to Molluscum contagiosum. Once this inflammatory response has cleared the virus, the skin can begin healing and the Molluscum contagiosum lesions disappear after 1- 5 weeks.

MolluDab is not suitable to be used for eczema or atopic dermatitis.

When To Use
Molluscum Contagioscum is a virus that can infect anyone, though it is more commonly found in children. The condition is shown by spots that appear on the skin. These spots have a small dimple in the middle of them. The spots average 2-5mm in size and can become red or swollen. They are not harmful but can be itchy. The virus itself is contagious and can spread through direct contact with someone infected. Molluscum Contagioscum can also be contracted as an STI. It is not known how long the condition lasts for but it can last for 18 months or longer.
Suitable for

This topical treatment is suitable to be used by adults and children aged 2 and over. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients that are contained in the treatment. Anyone who is using any other form of medication should consult a doctor or pharmacist before using.

Anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding should seek the advice of a medical professional before using this treatment.
