Permitabs Potassium Permanganate BP Solution Tablets
Permitabs are used for weeping, exuding or for blistered skin that requires drying up. It is only used when all other forms of antibacterial agents have been tried.
Permitabs solution tablets need to be dissolved in water, to make a potassium permanganate solution.

- This medicine is for external use only.
- Avoid contact with eyes, mouth or lining of the nose.
- It is important to follow the instructions provided with this preparation. You will need a container, such as a washing up bowl to make up the solution of potassium permanganate.
- One Permitabs solution tablet should be dissolved in four litres of water to produce a 0.01% (1 in 10 000) solution of potassium permanganate. The affected area(s) should then be soaked in the solution for ten minutes.
- The used solution should be disposed of in the toilet, to prevent it staining the sink or bath.
Cautions:
- Do not use any soap or detergent with this preparation as it will react with the potassium permanganate.
- Potassium permanganate can stain floor surfaces, baths, clothing, skin and nails.
- Permitabs solution tablets must be diluted to the correct concentration, as concentrated solutions of potassium permanganate can burn the skin.
- Gloves should be worn where handling the tablets or solution.
