Description
MCT Oil is a liquid containing a mixture of medium chian triglycerides.
Indications and Prescribability
MCT Oil is an energy source and is indicated in the dietary management of intractable epilepsy using the ketogenic diet or for fat malabsoption such as in cystic fibrosis and chronic liver disease. MCT Oil is not a source of essential fatty acids or fat soluble vitamins.
Precautions
Use under medical supervision. Not for parenteral use. Not suitable for use as a sole source of nutrition, unless indicated in the product description. Flavouring is not recommended for infants less than six months.
Preparation & Administration
MCT Oil can be mixed with liquids or used as part of a modular feed. MCT Oil should be introduced slowly into the diet as rapid absorption of large intakes may cause vomiting or diarrhoea.
Product Storage
Store in closed containers, protected from light at 5-20C. Shake well before use. Once opened, replace the container lid and store in a refrigerator for up to 28 days. Discard unfinished servings if not consumed within 24 hours after being taken from the refrigerator.
Suggested Intake
The recommended dosage of MCT OIL is dependent on the age, bodyweight and medical condition of the patient
